CIC nanoGUNE is a research center based in Donostia, Basque Country, founded in 2009. It conducts advanced basic and applied research in nanoscience and nanotechnology and prioritizes training and education for researchers in the field. It aims to connect universities, technological centers, and industry within the Basque Science, Technology and Innovation Network to support technology transfer and enhance the competitiveness of Basque industry in strategic areas. The center promotes the Cooperative Research Center model as a framework to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and closer alignment between research institutions and the industrial sector. In 2026 it launched dedicated quantum hardware laboratories to support silicon-based quantum chip development, in collaboration with Quantum Motion.
