Churches for Middle East Peace (CMEP) is a Washington, DC based nonprofit in the international affairs field that seeks to influence U.S. policy toward a comprehensive and just resolution of Middle East conflicts, with a focus on the Israeli-Palestinian issue. Founded in 1984, CMEP operates as a coalition of more than 30 national church bodies across Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant, and Evangelical traditions, with a board that represents these groups and makes policy decisions by consensus. It is registered as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization and is funded by individuals, local churches, and ecumenical groups. Its work centers on mobilizing U.S. Christians to advocate for equality, human rights, security, and justice for Israelis, Palestinians, and all people of the Middle East, translating faith communities' concerns into policy engagement. 

CMEP actively engages policymakers at multiple levels and provides church leaders and organizations with policy positions, public statements, and related materials to inform advocacy on justice and peace in the region. In December 2023, CMEP partnered with Pax Christi International, reflecting ongoing collaboration with other Christian organizations in joint peace efforts related to Israel and Palestine.
