What’s my story? I tell stories for a living. I’ve been lucky to have made my home in NYC since the '90's, mostly as the account exec business guy in ad agencies. There, we solved creative challenges and told stories for a living. But going back just as far, I’ve also evolved my craft and passion for photography storytelling. From the visually-tantalizing streetscapes, buildings, and trees of NYC to the spontaneous magic of children, pets and people in general. Specializing in natural light settings, I take a very relaxed, photojournalistic, documentary style approach to portraiture. And especially with Children – to find, see, capture, & record little fleeting stolen moments. Sometimes soft and quiet… quite often energetic, vibrant and spontaneous. I don’t manipulate or fabricate or manufacture. Just extract the essence of what’s already present, pure and genuine. And this may sound strange, but I believe that every person, pet, building, tree, street scene, firehydrant — or whathaveyou — has a portrait to be captured. A story to be told. What I’ve found I have a knack for — whether consciously or subconsciously — is recognizing and capturing a subject in some kind of interesting relationship to their surroundings. Within architecture and interesting shapes/geometries, within the environment/nature, with another person, pet, or group. Relatedly, I think how we define our own world really boils down to relationships… yes? That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it.
