The Children’s Book Project provides free, high-quality books to children who need them. Our mission for more than 30 years has been to help ensure equity in literacy, learning, and life for children and youth in San Francisco and the Bay Area.

Literacy attainment is directly tied to academic achievement and lifetime outcomes. However, children living in economically disadvantaged communities often do not have the same access to books as their more affluent peers. The Children’s Book Project is committed to closing the opportunity gap and lifting up our community by raising young readers.

We invite you to learn more about CBP by visiting our website. Teachers and organizations working with children who could benefit from our services are welcome to make an appointment to obtain free books for infants through teens at our Book Bank in San Francisco.
