The Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance (CARRA) Inc. is a nonprofit research organization based in Durham, North Carolina. It unites more than 440 pediatric rheumatologists, researchers and research coordinators across over 110 sites, encompassing a substantial portion of North American pediatric rheumatology professionals. A central element of its work is the CARRA Registry (NCT02418442), which collects disease and treatment data on children with rheumatic diseases to support research. Founded in 2002, CARRA operates as a tax-exempt charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3). The organization seeks to enable children affected by rheumatic diseases in North America to participate in clinical and translational research, with a mission to conduct collaborative research to prevent, treat and cure pediatric rheumatic diseases. In May 2026, CARRA announced a research partnership with the Lupus and Allied Diseases Association, Inc. to advance childhood lupus research and related mental health considerations.
