Chicago Screenwriters Network is a small nonprofit organization based in Chicago, founded in 1995 as a 501(c)(3) to promote education and foster community among screenwriters in the greater Chicago area. It hosts monthly meetings on the second Sunday that are open to the public for a nominal admission, with attendance free for paid annual members. The meetings feature presentations by accomplished industry professionals on the craft and business of screenwriting, and the organization also runs member-only, Saturday-morning workshops focused on screenwriting craft. Every three to four months, CSN presents day-long or two-day workshops taught by leading industry experts. Since 2009, the organization has conducted an annual screenplay competition, which was on hiatus in 2014 and relaunched in 2015, and it promotes a member-to-member Script Exchange to provide feedback among writers. The network occasionally collaborates with allied industry groups to host jointly organized networking events, and its board and management operate on a volunteer basis.
