ChiMOP, formally the Chicago Metamorphosis Orchestra Project, is a nonprofit organization based in Chicago, Illinois, that operates as a musicians’ outreach group focused on youth and family empowerment through music. Its programs are designed to create safe, engaging spaces where participants can pursue artistic excellence alongside peers and positive adult role models, with all activities offered at no cost to participants. The organization emphasizes social impact by delivering multifaceted community youth orchestra initiatives that address limited access to the arts. Currently, ChiMOP runs a daily, El Sistema–inspired school partnership at Mary Lyon Elementary School in the Cragin neighborhood and a touring summer youth orchestra based in Albany Park, staffed by professional teaching artists from within the communities it serves. As a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt entity, ChiMOP bases its work in the Chicago area and focuses on youth development through music education and performance. In addition to its core programs, the organization leverages local artistry to provide instruction and mentorship in a manner unique to the neighborhoods it serves.
