Our residential foster care agency provides cutting-edge services to 80 - 90 at-risk children each year, ages 10 - 19, in three neighborhood-based group homes in Bismarck, North Dakota. We are recognized for our strengths-based, non-punitive, relationship-oriented model of care. Our goal is to help adolescents and teenagers to develop emotional stability and psychological resiliency, enhanced physical health, and coping skills needed to navigate life's challenges. Programming identifies and builds on youths' strengths and resilience. We support youth as they discover hope, earn healthy self-esteem, and learn essential life skills needed to develop healthy relationships and ensure more positive futures. Critical life skills, moral decision-making and healthy attitudes are taught and practiced. Desired outcomes for youth include greater academic success because of changed attitudes, thinking skills, and positive behaviors that are learned. Special programming includes: 1) trauma-informed practice, 2) case management and individual/group counseling, 3) experiential education, 4) spiritual life opportunities, 5) recreation/health/fitness: Thrive, 6) nutrition education and independent life skills education, 7) addiction programming with DRUMBEAT™: Awaken 8) academic support and tutoring, 9) creative arts programming (Impact Creative Arts, Moves and Movement),and 10) program collaborations with community partners (e.g., Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, YMCA). The mission of Charles Hall Youth Services is to assist at-risk youth in making a successful transition from troubled adolescence to mature adulthood.
