The National Renewable Energy Centre (CENER) is a technology centre that concentrates on applied research and the development and promotion of renewable energies. It is based in Sarriguren, Navarre, Spain, and employs 201-500 people. The CENER-CIEMAT Foundation began activities in 2002, with a Board of Trustees that includes the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, Ciemat, the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, and the Government of Navarra. The organization offers services and research across six areas: Wind, Solar Thermal and Solar Photovoltaic, Biomass, Energy in Buildings, and Renewable Energy Grid Integration. Its facilities include a Wind Turbine Test Laboratory, an Experimental Wind Farm, a 2nd Generation Biofuel Centre, and a Microgrid, with headquarters in the Ciudad de la Innovación area of Sarriguren and additional sites in Sangüesa, Alaiz, Aoiz and Seville.
