The Central Shenandoah Planning District Commission is a government-led planning agency based in Staunton, Virginia, serving the Central Shenandoah region. It provides planning services and technical assistance to its member jurisdictions across areas such as comprehensive and land use planning, transportation, water and wastewater utilities, natural resource management, solid waste management, affordable housing, economic and community development, disaster mitigation and preparedness education, and human services. The commission emphasizes collaborative problem solving through regional partnerships with local governments and other stakeholders. Its member jurisdictions include the counties of Augusta, Bath, Highland, Rockbridge, and Rockingham, as well as the Cities of Buena Vista, Harrisonburg, Lexington, Staunton, and Waynesboro and eleven towns. In 2026, CSPDC announced the selection of Resource Management Systems, Inc. as the contractor for turnkey operations and maintenance of the BRITE Transit system. Additionally, the American Council of Engineering Companies of Virginia awarded CSPDC a Merit Award for the Lewis Street Transit Hub Project at the 2026 Engineering Excellence Awards Gala.
