The Center for Technology, Innovation and Community Engagement (CTICE) is a mid-sized education organization based in New York City. Founded in 2006 by Columbia Engineering, CTICE aims to broaden community-based learning for Columbia students and to build sustainable collaborations between Columbia University and its neighboring communities. The center draws on Columbia's material and intellectual resources to provide students with real-world learning experiences. CTICE puts the idea of service-based learning at the core of its work, offering for-credit courses and co-curricular programs that connect students with local needs. Its programs involve roughly 800 students each year, awarding more than 1,800 credits and supporting over 100 community projects. Through these efforts, CTICE educates local youth, trains residents for new careers, supports local entrepreneurs and economic development, and helps community organizations achieve their goals.
