Carolina Federal Credit Union is a financial services organization based in Cherryville, North Carolina, established in 1969 to serve Carolina Freight Employees and later expanding to include residents and organizations within Gaston and Cleveland Counties, as well as members of its affiliated companies and associations and their families. The credit union serves as a cooperative financial institution focusing on member savings and lending services to individuals connected to its field of membership, aiming to provide accessible financial products through a locally rooted, member-owned model. With a history spanning five decades, it positions itself within the North Carolina credit union sector as a community-oriented alternative to traditional banks, emphasizing membership eligibility for a broad local community and diverse member families. A notable recent development involves a partnership formed in early 2022 to enhance its indirect lending program by integrating technology and streamlined processes through collaboration with CU Alliance and CUAC, reflecting a move toward more efficient, technology-enabled member services at the point of sale.
