The Kelp Forests off the California Coast provide the 2nd most prolific ecosystem on our planet. 2nd only to the Amazon Rainforest. Like the Amazon, the California Kelp Forest offer a vast abundance of species and life. Also like the Amazon, the Kelp Forest are responsible for the production of Oxygen and elemination of Green house gases (carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide). Unlike the Amazon, the Kelp Forest in our own backyard do not enjoy much in the way of protection from polution and commercial exploitation.

Carmel Bay Divers is the result of John Foxhall's desire to help educate others about the benefits of this amazing resource just off the California Coast.

John has been diving since 1985 and teaching scuba diving since 1990. With close to 5000 dives, John is one of the most experienced recreational scuba instructors in California.

John likes using one of his pictures of a CA Sea Otter in the Carmel Bay Divers logo since the sea otter is a "keystone" species to the vitality of the kelp forest.
