Caring Response Madagascar Foundation is a small, volunteer-driven public charity based in Cincinnati, Ohio, that concentrates its humanitarian work in Madagascar, with a particular focus on the Toamasina/Tamatave region. Its programs are carried out by volunteers and emphasize education as a primary means of empowering the poor, with core activities in literacy, sanitation and hygiene, healthcare, and economic self-development. CRMF was incorporated in Ohio in November 2001 and has been designated a tax-exempt public charity under IRS Section 501(c)(3). The foundation collaborates with ONG St. Gabriel, a locally led Malagasy nonprofit, to implement projects that respond to the needs of vulnerable populations in Madagascar. The organization traces its origins to the experience of David E. Wiltse, whose summer volunteer work in Madagascar helped give rise to its work.
