The California Police Chiefs Association, established in 1966, represents municipal police chiefs and their agencies in California. It serves as the voice and resource for California’s municipal police chiefs, supporting public safety for more than 26 million residents. Its activities focus on promoting professional practices in police administration and crime prevention, developing and disseminating administrative guidance, and recruiting and training qualified personnel while encouraging the exchange of information and experience across the state. The association advocates for public safety policy at the state capitol and maintains governance committees that address emerging issues and provide model policies. Based in Sacramento, California, the organization is small to mid-sized, and in 2024 it appointed Sean Thuilliez as vice president.
