Brodmann Blades is a sporting goods manufacturer focused on table tennis equipment. It has developed a paddle without a traditional handle, designed to be worn on the hand and usable from either hand, effectively making the paddle a natural extension of the arm. The design is described as improving comfort, ergonomics, and sensory feedback from ball contact, with potential benefits for ball control, speed, spin, and backhand play. The approach aims to broaden accessibility to the sport, appealing to beginners, individuals seeking enhanced three-dimensional hand-eye coordination, and players with dexterity challenges, while also addressing the interests of experienced players seeking to push performance. The designer engaged with the International Table Tennis Federation, receiving an enthusiastic preliminary response and noting the possibility that the innovation could influence international competition as a notable shift in the sport.
