The Bluffton Township Fire District is a public-safety organization serving Bluffton and the southern portion of Beaufort County, South Carolina, focused on emergency response and public safety. It was established in 1978 as a special fire tax district by the county council to provide fire and medical services, initially organized as three independent volunteer departments—Chelsea (Station 32), Pritchardville (Station 31), and Bluffton (Station 30)—that were merged into a single department that year. Over the years it shifted from volunteer staffing to paid firefighters, becoming a fully career department in 2007. Today the district operates nine stations across 246 square miles, serving about 75,000 residents with proactive all-hazards public safety services. In November 2025, the district appointed David Hindman as fire chief after a nationwide search.
