Black Girls RUN! is a wellness and fitness organization based in Richmond, Virginia. Founded in 2009 by Toni Carey and Ashley Hicks, it seeks to motivate African-American women to prioritize fitness and healthy living and to provide encouragement and resources for both new and experienced runners. The group frames its mission within public health concerns about overweight prevalence among African-American women and aims to reduce this through community activity and healthier lifestyle choices. As a relatively small organization, it relies on partnerships to extend its impact within the running community. In 2026, Black Girls RUN! announced collaborations with events and conferences, including a partnership with Run Richmond 16.19 for its 5-year anniversary and support for the Sweat With Your Sole National Conference, as well as a collaboration with the Capital City Half & Quarter Marathon in Columbus, Ohio.
