Birthright Armenia, also known as Depi Hayk, is an international nonprofit founded in 2003 by Edele Hovnanian. Based in Yerevan, it operates within the civic and social sector to strengthen connections between Armenia and diaspora youth. The organization runs a year-round program for young Armenian Diasporans aged 21 to 32, offering travel fellowships, living with host families, curated excursions, language instruction, and forums in exchange for volunteer or internship work. Its aim is to help participants contribute to Armenia's development while building lasting ties and a renewed sense of Armenian identity. To support immersion, Birthright Armenia collaborates with numerous internship and study abroad organizations, which arrange participants' job sites or community service placements, with Birthright Armenia coordinating the remainder. Through these complementary services and financial incentives, the program seeks to make Armenia accessible in a meaningful, personal way. The organization operates as a small to mid-sized nonprofit in Yerevan, Yerevan Region, Armenia, and maintains a website at birthrightarmenia.org for information and applications.
