The Birmingham Metro Baptist Association is a voluntary coalition of about 180 local churches in and around Birmingham, Alabama. It coordinates mission and service opportunities aimed at addressing community needs, recognizing that collaboration can accomplish more than individual congregations. Its roots trace back to 1833 when the group formed as the Canaan Association of United Baptists, and several current member churches grew out of its mission work. BMBA supports year-round programs that enable member churches to engage in outreach, assist with feeding and housing needs, and participate in disaster relief and mission trips. The association also provides resources to churches, including leadership training, legal and financial consultation, and support for planting new churches and coordinating group events. Operating within the religious institutions sector, BMBA is based in Birmingham, Alabama, and serves its network of member churches in the region.
