Established in 1960, Bigrock Mountain is a 501 (c)3 Non-Profit community owned ski area in Mars Hill, Maine. Bigrock became a community owned and operated entity in 2013. Funding for Bigrock comes through a variety of avenues. These are but not limited to: personal donations, business donations, ski season, and events throughout the year. In addition to skiing and snowboarding, Bigrock now offers the Mars Hill Mountain Challenge. This is an obstacle course that goes through the terrain of Bigrock and takes place during the summer. Other off season events include Rocktoberfest and a ski and swap sale. The groomer and equipment fund for Bigrock is funded through advertising space on the chair lift and towers. Bigrock Mountain provides Aroostook County and Western New Brunswick with outdoor recreational activity throughout the year. .
