The Beckley Sanitary Board serves as a municipal utility for the City of Beckley, providing sanitary sewer and stormwater services to the greater Beckley area in West Virginia. It manages wastewater collection and treatment, stormwater quality management, and the operation and maintenance of storm sewer systems, along with capital drainage and wastewater improvements. The board also conducts industrial pretreatment monitoring, water quality monitoring, and grease trap inspections. In addition to its core responsibilities, BSB supports environmental education and community service through partnerships with local groups and schools, including the Piney Creek Watershed Association and Raleigh County Make It Shine, as well as storm drain-marking efforts. A recent development involves a collaboration with West Virginia University at Beckley, where biology students from WVU Tech are researching rock-like masses found in the local sewer system.
