Beacon Place NFP operates a community hub in Waukegan, Illinois, focused on supporting under-served youth and their families. The center runs programs in nutrition, health, academic support, and life skills to help participants progress toward greater opportunities. The organization began in 2012 when local volunteers identified needs in southeast Waukegan and, in 2013, converted a derelict house at 603 McAlister Avenue into a neighborhood center that delivers these services. Its work addresses pervasive local challenges, including poverty, violence, limited educational options, and gaps in school readiness. Beacon Place emphasizes guidance, exposure to diverse life experiences, and ongoing support to enable children and families to pursue lifelong opportunities. Since its inception, the program has reached nearly 4,000 children and families, reflecting its ongoing role in the community's development.
