Bay Area Ridge Trail Council is a small nonprofit organization based in Berkeley in the San Francisco Bay Area. It is dedicated to planning, promoting, and sustaining a continuous, multi-use trail network along the ridgelines surrounding the Bay Area, currently about 400 miles long and growing. The network serves hikers, cyclists, and equestrians, connecting people with parks and open space for today and future generations. The council coordinates the development and stewardship of this regional route, emphasizing connectivity and outdoor access for communities across the region. In recent months, it has expanded collaboration with land trusts and public park agencies, including a May 2025 partnership with the Solano Land Trust for a Ridge Trail work day at Blue Rock Springs Park and an April 2025 collaboration with San Mateo County Parks for a Skyline Trail work day. Since 2007, it has also worked with State Parks to modify trail use to permit bicycles.
