BAX | Brooklyn Arts Exchange is a Brooklyn-based venue in the performing arts that operates year-round to present performances, facilitate rehearsals, and offer educational programs. It aims to foster artistic risk-taking and to stimulate dialogue across diverse audiences and creators. The organization traces its origins to 1991, when it began on an industrial block in Brooklyn's Gowanus area before moving to Park Slope in 1998 to meet growing demand. In 2006, it expanded to form THE BAX BUILDING, reflecting broader programmatic and infrastructural ambitions, and today it maintains a small staff along with a roster of teaching artists, interns, and volunteers. In 2018, BAX launched a Disability Artist Space Grant Pilot Program in partnership with Cora Dance to support disabled artists.
