The Bastrop Economic Development Corporation is a government-focused entity serving the City of Bastrop, Texas. Established in 1995 after residents approved a half-cent sales tax for economic development, it aims to attract, expand, and retain a diverse local employment base. To support this, it developed the Bastrop Business and Industrial Park—a 263-acre site at the crossroads of Highways 71, 21 and 95—designed with commercial and industrial zoning and ready-to-use infrastructure. The BEDC funds research to identify community needs and development opportunities, offers incentives, helps locate suitable facilities, and guides projects from start to finish. Historically it has pursued workforce-training partnerships with local institutions, including the Art Institute of Chicago and Bastrop High, and in 2025 closed its office on 301 Highway as part of organizational changes.
