The Auburn-Washburn School District is made up of 128 square miles of sub-urban and rural areas in southwest Topeka and Shawnee County. Our staff members are committed to inspiring, challenging, and preparing every child, every day. This dedication to excellence has made us one of the highest performing school districts in Kansas and is driving our steady growth. USD 437 is currently made up of 1 early childhood center, 7 elementary schools, 1 middle school, 1 high school, 1 alternative high school, and 2 alternative learning centers. Our schools reflect the commitment to excellence evident in our community. Above all we want every student to succeed. If academic achievement is an indicator of success we are reaching our goal. We consistently rank among the leaders in a variety of test scores including the ACT and SAT as well as in National Merit Scholarships. No one cares more about students than the staff in the Auburn-Washburn Schools. Almost half the faculty here hold a Masters Degree or higher. When it comes to staff earning awards for excellence, we lead the area. We have an aggressive staff development process and provide teachers with the resources they need in the classroom. We know the value of small class sizes. The average size of elementary classes in Auburn-Washburn is 19 students.
