The Association of Science and Technology Centers (ASTC) is a network connecting nearly 700 science and technology centers and museums and allied organizations, serving audiences across North America and about 50 countries, with annual engagement around 110 million people. Founded in 1973, ASTC provides a collective voice, professional support, and programming opportunities for science centers, museums, and related institutions. The organization operates within the museum, historical sites, and zoos sector, positioning itself as a professional association that fosters strategic alliances and global partnerships to raise awareness of members' contributions to communities and informal STEM learning. Based in Washington, District of Columbia, ASTC maintains a small staff and coordinates with its members and partners to enhance public engagement with science and technology. In 2025, ASTC launched Beyond Access, a project aimed at making informal STEM learning organizations more welcoming and supportive for people who are neurodivergent or have intellectual or developmental disabilities.
