The Association for Community Affiliated Plans (ACAP) is a national trade association that represents not-for-profit safety-net health plans within the hospitals and health care sector. Based in Washington, DC, ACAP’s member plans collectively enroll more than thirty million individuals through Medicaid, Medicare, Marketplaces and other public health coverage programs.
ACAP’s mission is to strengthen these not-for-profit safety-net plans to improve the health and well-being of lower-income people and others with significant health needs. The organization functions as a coordinating voice for safety-net plans within the U.S. health care industry. In June 2026, ACAP added two corporate members to its Board of Directors: Adam Beam, Vice President for Corporate Development at CareSource, and Sonya Nelson, Regional President at AmeriHealth Caritas.
