AAPIP is a national membership organization focused on expanding and mobilizing philanthropic and community resources to underserved Asian American and Pacific Islander communities, with the aim of fostering a more just and equitable society. Its members include staff and trustees of foundations and other grantmaking entities, as well as individual donors and philanthropy-serving professionals. The organization supports ten regional chapters across the United States in cities such as Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Minnesota, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle, Silicon Valley, and Washington DC. These chapters function as centers for place-based advocacy, information exchange, leadership development, and network-building around AAPI issues and philanthropy. Based in Oakland, California, AAPIP operates with a national reach through its chapter network. In October 2023, Lyle Matthew Kan was appointed Interim President and CEO, following the retirement of Patricia Eng.
