Annandale Volunteer Fire Department is one of twelve volunteer fire departments serving Fairfax County, Virginia. It operates two stations, Station 8 on Columbia Pike and Station 23 on Little River Turnpike. The department maintains a frontline fleet that includes one ambulance, two medic units, two engines, and one canteen unit. Its mission is to prevent the destruction of property by fire and to aid in the preservation of life, health, and property by providing emergency and non-emergency services to residents of Annandale and Fairfax County. It collaborates with the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department and pools resources with other volunteer departments within the county. Volunteers contribute thousands of hours to AVFD's operations, with more than 15,000 hours last year dedicated to responding to emergencies, attending training, and fundraising activities such as BINGO.
