Ann-Hua Chinese School
Education Administration ProgramsUnited States11-50 Employees
Since its founding, Annhua has grown from its initial three Chinese classes, dancing and drawing lessons, 39 students and six teachers to a student body of over 400, a teacher team of over 20, nearly 30 classes, as well as an all-volunteer school staff dedicated to serving the local Chinese and greater Ann Arbor communities. Ann-Hua shines as an educational institution. Both the size and scale of the Annhua program continue to expand and evolve. Recognition of language education by Annhua has also gone beyond the Chinese community. For example, credits earned at Ann-Hua is transferrable to Ann Arbor and Saline area high schools. Ann-Hua, at the same time, has developed itself into a center of activities and actions for the Chinese community. For example, in response to the 2003 SARS outbreak and the 2008 Sichuan earthquake, Ann-Hua organized two successful large-scale fundraising efforts. And, 彩虹(rainbow), a fundraising program started by Annhua people, has been in continuous operation since 1998 to support elementary and secondary education in economically improvised regions of China.
