The Ana G. Mendez University System is a not-for-profit higher education network that has been in operation since 1949. It comprises multiple traditional universities and an online campus, collectively enrolling about 40,000 students and being the largest private university system in Puerto Rico. All of its member institutions are accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. In 2003 the system opened a Metro Orlando Campus in Florida, offering bachelor’s and master’s programs on a single campus with a flexible schedule. The organization serves Hispanic adult students across the Continental United States with a network of campuses in Florida, Maryland, Texas, and the District of Columbia, and its Tampa operation forms part of this footprint, employing a mid-sized workforce.
