AM/NS Calvert, a steel finishing facility operated by ArcelorMittal Calvert, is located in Calvert, Alabama, about 35 miles north of Mobile, and employs between 501 and 1000 people. The site houses a river terminal, hot strip mill, and cold rolling mill to produce flat-rolled carbon steel for the North American market. It has the capacity to produce up to 5.3 million tons annually and serves automotive, construction, pipe and tube, service center, and appliance/HVAC sectors with hot rolled, cold rolled, pickled and oiled, and advanced coated steels. The company is expanding with a new steelmaking facility at the Calvert site to enhance technology use and digitalization across operations. The production complex includes a seven-stand CVC plus finishing mill, a stand-alone continuous pickler line, and a coupled pickler-tandem mill, along with three hot-dip galvanizing lines, a radiant tube atmosphere furnace, and a continuous annealing line. In 2024, AM/NS Calvert received the Environmental Stewardship Award for a water recycling project, and also faced a Clean Air Act violation resulting in a $750,000 fine.
