ASPP promotes the advancement of its members by providing professional networking and educational opportunities for those who create, edit, research, license, distribute, manage and publish visual content.

We are a national membership organization enrolling individuals and organizations as members who may reside in any single city, state, region or locality; including international members-at-large. ASPP does not discriminate among its potential members on the basis of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, political beliefs or national origin.

General membership is open to those with four years of verifiable professional experience as established by the Board of Directors; for example: proof of published works; a professional website featuring work, biographical material and client list; recommendation of at least one currently active member.

We publish a quarterly magazine, The Picture Professional, and distribute news relevant to our members and the industry through the ASPP eNews Blog.

Benefits of membership include a platform for publishing original works and ideas, subscriptions to our publications, listings in our "Find a Pro"​ directory, access to industry job openings, access to health care and other insurance programs, free or discounted attendance at all ASPP events, including national educational programs and local chapter meetings, and discounts off many products and services.
