Ambra BioScience LLC uses its proprietary Gut Sensory Modulation (GSM) technology platform to develop dietary supplements and medical foods that address significant health and wellness concerns such as maintaining a healthy weight and healthy blood sugar levels.  

Ambra is focused on the physiologic release of hormones produced by the L-cells in the lower gut. The nutrients in food naturally activate the sweet, bitter and umami taste receptors located on the luminal side of the L-cells causing the release GLP-1, PYY and oxyntomodulin. These hormones affect hunger, satiety, glucose regulation, inflammatory response and mood.  Using GSM, Ambra scientists have been able to augment the release of these beneficial hormones using a proprietary blend of food ingredients (tastants).  

More than $20 million dollars has been invested in GSM development, clinical testing and creation of an extensive IP portfolio based on time-released delivery of tastants beyond the stomach. The tastants are GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe), non-stimulatory and non-nutritive. Ambra’s first GSM-based product is Lovidia® Hunger Control Formula.
