Alternative Strategy Advisers, LLC is a boutique fixed income money manager with over $1.5 billion in assets under management. We specialize in municipal bonds, corporate bonds, treasuries, and private loans, serving clients that range from multi-billion-dollar family offices and corporations to individual accredited investors.
The founding principals of ASA have been trading proprietary fixed income strategies since the late 1980s. Between 1987 and 1998, they worked at Cargill Inc. developing and trading domestic and international fixed income and equity arbitrage strategies — work that became the bedrock of what are now called hedge funds. They went on to create and manage fixed income vehicles at Eagle Capital Management, Delphi Financial Group, and EW Blanch, managing billions of dollars in assets before founding ASA.
We believe that active management is critical to minimizing risk and optimizing returns in the complex bond market. Our approach combines decades of proprietary trading experience with modern technology — including AI-assisted analytics, Azure-based data infrastructure, and real-time portfolio monitoring tools — to help our clients navigate fixed income markets and invest safely and profitably.
ASA manages separately managed accounts on the Schwab Advisor Platform as well as single-strategy limited partnerships, including vehicles focused on zero-coupon municipal bonds and private lending.
We are a lean, four-person firm where every team member has a direct impact on investment outcomes. We are currently hiring a Technology Officer to lead our data and technology infrastructure.
