Almaz Capital is a venture capital and private equity firm that focuses on early-stage startups in the CIS and Central and Eastern Europe. Founded in 2008 and based in Portola Valley, California, the firm historically opened offices in Silicon Valley and Moscow to connect companies from the former Soviet states with Silicon Valley resources. Its European operations later moved to Berlin in 2017 as the firm widened its focus to the Central and Eastern Europe region, and it paused investments in companies with ties to Russia after the 2014 Crimea annexation and in Belarus following the 2020 Minsk crackdown. 

Almaz has supported Ukraine-based startups and participates in governance activity with the Ukrainian Venture Capital Association.
