The Akron Municipal Court is a local court within the administration of justice sector, based in Akron, Ohio. It serves the cities of Akron and Fairlawn, the townships of Bath, Richfield and Springfield, the villages of Lakemore and Richfield, and part of Mogadore in Summit County. Its jurisdiction covers misdemeanor criminal cases with maximum penalties of up to one year in jail and fines up to $2,500, as well as the initial stages of felony proceedings. In civil matters, it handles claims not exceeding $15,000, with jury trials available on request in all criminal cases except minor misdemeanors, and in all civil cases. Based in Akron, the court operates as a mid-sized local judiciary within Summit County's administrative framework. In 2022, Judge Annalisa Stubbs Williams was honored with the Ohio State Bar Foundation's lifetime achievement award.
