AHMSA (Altos Hornos de México S.A.B. de C.V.) is the largest integrated steel producer in Mexico, with corporate offices in Monclova, Coahuila, about 250 kilometers from the U.S. border. The company operates an end-to-end value chain from iron ore and metallurgical coal extraction to steel manufacturing, with two steel plants in Monclova spanning about 1,200 hectares. AHMSA owns coal mines in Coahuila’s carbon region, located roughly 110 kilometers from Monclova, and ores are transported to the plants by a 295-kilometer ferroduct, with additional iron ore deposits in other states. The firm produces more than 3.5 million metric tons of liquid steel annually and employs around 19,000 people, including its mining subsidiaries. It is a leading national producer and marketer of flat steel products, including hot-rolled sheet, plate, cold-rolled sheet, tinplate, chromed sheet, and structural profiles, with reported revenue in the range of $25 million to $50 million.
