African Sisters Education Collaborative (ASEC) is a nonprofit focused on education administration programs that support African Catholic sisters in gaining educational opportunities to enhance their impact in communities. Based in Scranton, Pennsylvania, the organization works to address development challenges in Africa by strengthening the capacity of sisters to improve healthcare, water access, hunger reduction, and responses to marginalized populations, while also mentoring and empowering others within congregations and communities. Targeting religious women as a path to broader societal benefit, ASEC situates itself within the education sector as a facilitator of leadership development and community resilience. The effort is grounded in the belief that equipping sisters with education translates into broader social change across the African continent, where sisters are described as addressing poverty, disease, ecological degradation, and violence through service and advocacy.
