Africa Development Promise is an international non-profit organization in the International Trade and Development sector, based at 1031 33rd Street, Denver, Colorado, and it employs a small staff of 2 to 10 people. Its mission is to mobilize rural entrepreneurial women to advance sustainable business and economic independence in rural East African communities, with programs in Rwanda and Uganda. The organization centers on agriculture as a starting point, noting that many rural women rely on subsistence farming, and uses a cooperative enterprise model to move women from subsistence food production to business activity, while strengthening cooperative governance and technical capacity. It provides farm infrastructure such as greenhouses, an irrigation system (including a solar-powered irrigation system), and tools, and supports cooperative savings and loans associations to help participants earn sustainable income. Its history includes launching programs in Rwanda and Uganda in 2014, partnerships with Columbia University on climate-smart and data-enabled agricultural initiatives in 2019, collaboration with Women in Technology Uganda and CINELAB to support girls and young women, and a 2025 investment in a training facility and related assets that increased productivity.
