ADENE – Agência para a Energia is a Portuguese agency focused on improving energy efficiency and delivering information about energy use. Based in Lisbon, it operates within the civic and social organizations space and runs a spectrum of programs, including the Building Energy Certification system, Product Energy Labeling, and the management of high-energy consumption. It also handles Fleet Energy Labeling, promotes energy efficiency in public administration, and administers the ADENE Academy, alongside initiatives for water efficiency and circular economy performance classification. The organization also acts as the Operator of Change of Energy Supplier for the national electricity and natural gas sectors, facilitating interactions between policy frameworks and market participants. Its activities address property owners, manufacturers, public-sector bodies, and other actors in the energy market seeking clearer guidance and improved energy performance. In July 2025, ADENE partnered with ERSE and E-REDES to produce three explanatory guides on self-consumption in condominiums—covering scenarios with electric mobility—and clarifying the distinctions among individual, collective, and community self-consumption.
