The Academy Center of the Arts is the creative center of the greater Lynchburg area, dedicated to serving our community through the arts, culture, and community building. The Academy provides arts education to both children and adults, hosts compelling gallery shows, and stages performances featuring nationally renowned performers, partner cultural non-profits, and our very own community members.

Between two theaters, three galleries, and satellite exhibits, the Academy is full of opportunities for education and inspiration. From hands-on workshops to immersive camps, our educational programs cultivate creativity and artistic expression in individuals of all ages. Our galleries present dynamic, curated exhibits that both celebrate the work of local artists and showcase art from across the nation. Live performances at the Academy feature a diverse lineup of performers, bringing national and local favorites to the stage. 

Beyond the Academy’s campus, we are committed to making sure the arts are available to all our citizens through our numerous community outreach and access programs that break down economic barriers. The Academy reaches out to those who might otherwise have limited access to the arts through programs like Academy in Motion, our Educational Access Program, and Opening Minds Through Art.
