Founded in 2006 in San Jose, A Slice of New York opened to bring New York-style pizza to the Bay Area. The restaurant serves pizza by the slice or as whole pies and also makes strombolis, calzones, and garlic knots in-house. On July 1, 2017, it became the first Silicon Valley brick-and-mortar business to operate as a worker cooperative, with profits allocated based on hours worked. It runs two Bay Area locations, with the original shop in San Jose on Stevens Creek Boulevard and a larger Sunnyvale location that opened in 2011. Both sites offer in-house prepared items, while the Sunnyvale venue provides additional seating and space for events and catering.
