The 30 Mile River Watershed Association is a nonprofit, public-private collaboration that brings together seven rural towns, eight lake associations, and two land trusts to manage the 30 Mile River watershed. The organization oversees more than 25 lakes and ponds and numerous streams across roughly 89 square miles spanning from New Sharon to Monmouth. Its work focuses on countering threats from development and invasive species by coordinating communities in a more organized, comprehensive approach to watershed stewardship. Based in Mount Vernon, Maine, the group pursues a mission of clean and healthy lakes, ponds, and streams within its watershed. 

The association serves local governments, lake communities, and land trusts as its primary stakeholders, offering a regional platform for collaborative water-protection efforts. In March 2026, it reaffirmed its ongoing partnership with the Environmental Protection Agency and the Maine Department of Environmental Protection to reduce polluted runoff and safeguard lakes within its watershed, continuing a long-running use of Clean Water Act Section 319 grants.
